Our Mission

Welcome to the Virtual Museum of Indigenous People in Indonesia, a dedicated platform celebrating the rich cultural heritage and diverse traditions of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs) across Indonesia. Our mission is to amplify the voices of these communities, document their unique cultural practices, and advocate for their rights and recognition.

Why We Exist

Despite their significant contributions to the country's cultural and environmental diversity, IPLCs in Indonesia often face marginalization and exclusion from decision-making processes that affect their lands and livelihoods. This lack of acknowledgment has led to tenure conflicts and social unrest, underscoring the urgent need for greater recognition and inclusion.

Our Vision

We envision a future where IPLCs are respected, their rights are recognized, and their voices are integral to the governance of their ancestral lands. By creating this virtual museum, we aim to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of these communities, support their struggle for rights, and promote a more inclusive and equitable society.
